Green Ink?
As part of the on going Paradise Wildlife Park ‘Green Scheme' which looks at ways of creating a more environmentally friendly attraction, we have just launched a brand new recycling scheme for ink cartridges. This exciting new scheme allows us to recycle all the empty ink cartridges from our offices meaning less waste goes to landfill.
However, there is another twist to this scheme as you can also donate to us any empty ink cartridges for recycling at the Pay Cabin or Discovery Centre when you next pay us a visit. For each ink cartridge we recycle money is donated directly to our charity, Friends of Paradise Wildlife Park who work tirelessly to raise funds for worldwide animal conservation efforts.

A new set of stripes rolls into town!
Our tractor trailer ride has been re-launched this February half term, after a winter's refurbishment and is proving even more popular than before. We now have a new tractor sporting a tiger camouflage and our trailer now carries its own stripes and even a set of Zulu shields.
So remember to join us this half term and take a tour of the animal park on board our newly re-launched tractor trailer ride.
New African leopard arrives
On Monday 8th of February 2010, Sheena, the African leopard arrived at Paradise Wildlife Park from Santago Leopard Sanctuary. Sheena was released by our cat keepers into her brand new African leopard enclosure.
This is the first time that the park has housed an African leopard and this latest big cat addition brings the number of cat species here at Paradise Wildlife Park to a grand total of nine.
Interestingly, Sheena was born on Valentines Day in 1997, so why not visit her this Valentines Day and celebrate her birthday together with your loved one.
Enfield Town Football Club
On Monday 8th of February 2010 we were visited by some of the Enfield Town Football Club team and managers for a photo shoot to promote their event taking place here at the park on Sunday 23rd of May.
Despite the snowy weather, as your can see, the lads from Enfield Town FC had fun taking photos with our Ringtail lemurs and meerkats.
Paradise Goes Green!
As part of an ongoing plan to become a more sustainable wildlife park we are implementing a whole host of ‘green schemes' over the coming months to help achieve our objectives.
The task of making Paradise Wildlife Park more sustainable has been handed over to our newly appointed sustainability manager, Ashley Palmier. Since January he has carried out a vast number of environmental audits looking at ways the park can tackle climate change and become more sustainable.
Already new low energy lighting systems have been put into place in order to reduce the amount of electricity being consumed. The infrared heat bulbs which were previously used on the Animal Park have now been replaced with more up to date and more efficient PAR38 heat bulbs which use approximately 30% less energy to run.
Be sure to pick up a copy of our new ‘A Green Paradise' newsletter to find out more about the many changes we are making here at Paradise Wildlife Park.
Farewell to an Old Friend
Sadly on Boxing Day one of the paddocks oldest and most loved animals, Ronnie the Burchell's zebra passed away leaving behind his mate Dusty.
Ronnie arrived from West Midlands Safari Park on the 28th of September 1990 and had been at the park ever since. Over the years Ronnie had seen many changes to the park and greeted thousands of our guests often coming over for a handful of food.
Safaris R Us!
Trisha Liggett is a wildlife photographer who comes along to photo days at Paradise. We have four of these scheduled for 2010 and they are always a huge success. Look under our experiences section for full details.
As well as those Trisha is busy organising Bush Safaris in Africa to raise money for Wildlife Heritage Foundation our big cat breeding sanctuary in Kent.
If you would like to know more about Tricia Liggett's work or join her on one of her bush safaris in South Africa then take a look at her website: www.liveafrica.info
This photograph was taken by Don Byatt on a Photo Day at Paradise Wildlife Park and pictures Trisha.
