Our Accomplishments

Paradise Wildlife Park has established an excellent reputation in the field of wildlife conservation. We are at the forefront of many new conservation campaigns and have formed many links with organisations the world over.

We are proud that through our hard work we have established and funded ‘Project Life Lion', which is saving many species in East Africa from the plight of canine distemper virus and rabies. Paradise Wildlife Park also supports many other extremely important conservation projects including 21st Century Tiger, The Owstens Palm Civet Project and The Wildlife Heritage Foundation.

Paradise Wildlife Park has excellent links with the media and features regularly in television productions. The park has carried out prestigious promotional work on behalf of Walt Disney, Vauxhall Motors and MGM Cinemas, to name but a few. We have established a fantastic reputation with film and television companies as a prime location for filming animal sequences and education programmes. Blue Peter; The Really Wild Show; Giants with Nigel Marvin; Wildlife on One; training for BBC Directors; Animals at Work and The Chuckle Brothers! Have all utilised the awesome filming opportunities the park offers. It just goes to show, on a visit to Paradise the animals may not be the only star attraction you will see around the Park!

The Park has also supported CHATA - the Children in Hospital Animal Therapy Association. We also take animals to Great Ormond Street and other children's wards at hospitals in the South East. This important therapy helps to aid the children's recovery and provides a wonderful experience for children who are seriously or sometimes terminally ill. This can be very sad but extremely rewarding for all concerned.

We have established strong links with the rail network and provide a unique service of a free courtesy minibus service from Broxbourne Station on your arrival. Encouraging people to travel via greener modes of public transport is just one way Paradise Wildlife Park demonstrates its values for the conservation of our animals and environment.

Paradise Wildlife Park became the first zoo in the UK to have an independently written and developed Environmental Management System (EMS). This EMS has been adopted by the zoo forum as part of the Zoo Licence review and will be embodied in the appendices.

Paradise Wildlife Park has an excellent health and safety record and has won a number of awards from East Herts Council. We have also received Silver and Gold awards for environmental awareness in the leisure industry from the English Tourist Board.

Paradise Wildlife Park is a member of The World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), The European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA), the British Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA), the International Species Information System (ISIS), the East of England Tourist Board (EETB), the Herts Tourism and Leisure Partnership (HTLP) and the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA).

We take great pride in our commitment to conservation and assisting charitable organisations. The park hosts many fundraising and charitable events including, The annual Family Fun day for the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity; The Kids Day Out for the Rotary Club; and the Annual Awards Ceremony for the Millennium Volunteers.

Paradise Wildlife Park operates an outreach programme that has been running for over 18 years; it provides education and the opportunity for children to meet our animals on their own turf. This has recently been re-launched and is being offered as a free service to schools in Hertfordshire and surrounding areas for 2009.
