Parrot
Parrots are colourful, lively, curious and intelligent creatures. The group includes Macaws, Cockatoos, Conures, Parakeets and Lorikeets. A typical parrot has colourful feathers, a large head, big beady eyes and a strong hooked beak to crunch even the hardest seeds. The beak is also used as an extra foot to clamber about in trees.

Parrots make many calls and some mimic other sounds including the human voice. The combination of colour, inquisitive behaviour, copying our speech, the ability to learn tricks and being long-lived (up to 80yrs) have made parrots popular pets.
