In our paddocks you will be greated by our Brazilian Tapir (Tapirus terrestris) who are also part of EEP and have successfully produced offspring. Camels, Alpaca, Zebras, Wallabies, Emu, Reindeer and Mara all happily reside side by side and most of them enjoy being hand-fed by our visitors - just watch out for Bashira the Camel who is always keen to search out more than you bargained for!
The Wonders of the Rainforest Exhibit houses many types of endangered Tamarin, along with our sloth, marmosets and the very strange Three-banded Armadillo (Tolypeutes matacus). At The Angkor Reptile Temple you can come face to face with Snakes, Tortoises, Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches and even a Chinese Alligator (Alligator sinensis).
Paradise Wildlife Park is home to an outstanding collection of Big Cats including; Cheetahs, Lions, Jaguars, Tigers and Snow Leopards all of which have successfully been bred at Paradise. Our animal park is also home to many other endangered species including Silvery Marmosets and Pied Tamarins (Saguinus bicolour bicolour) who are happily rearing their young as part of the European Endangered species Programme (EEP). These breeding programmes keep an account of each species in question and aim to breed animals with as large a genetic variation as possible to ensure the survival of the species.
We also have three species of Lemur from Madagascar in the Park and two groups of friendly Meerkats from Southern Africa, making Paradise a truly global experience!
Keepers are on hand throughout the day to give you an overview of the animals and to answer any specific questions you may have. Please don't be afraid to ask, they enjoy talking about the animals they care for and in fact we usually have real trouble making them stop!
