Chinchilla

The Chinchilla is a rodent. Chinchillas live in relatively barren regions; they live holes and crevices among rocks, and emerge at dusk to forage on vegetation.

Its fur is superb at keeping the animal warm in sub- zero temperature, and is prized by humans for the same reason; Chinchillas have been hunted for their fur to near extinction. Chinchilla baths in sand rather than water because of their dense fur if they get wet they do not dry out which could be fatal in the harsh weather conditions leads to pneumonia!

DID YOU KNOW? For each 2 hair follicles that a human has, Chinchillas have 60!
