Striped Skunk

Skunks are nocturnal omnivores and will search for their food at night. They are renowned for their ability to spray a foul smelling odour, which is a defence mechanism that works very well in deterring predators.

If threatened, skunks will display a number of warning signs including stamping their feet, lifting their tail, scraping their claws back and displaying their anal scent gland. Their black and white markings also act as a warning sign.

DID YOU KNOW? Skunks do not produce the worst smelling odour in the animal kingdom, that prize goes to the African zorilla!
