Red Panda

Red Panda

Red Pandas mainly live in the cold forests of places such as the Eastern Himalayas.  Red pandas are extremely acrobatic animals that spend most of their lives in the trees of the forests where they live. They are sustainability heroes as they are excellent at conserving heat and like to help replant the forests where they live.

  • When it gets really cold red pandas go into what is called “torpor.” Almost half of their entire length is in their fluffy tail, which they wrap around themselves and go into a deep sleep, reducing their need for food and lowering both their temperature and breathing.
  • Red Pandas help to replant the forests they live in by dispersal of seeds, from the food that they eat.

Made out of an eco-fibreglass alternative made with recycled waste from around the zoo this lifelike Red Panda sculptures emulates how this incredible species uses sustainability in the wild to make their lives more efficient.

You can find our amazing sculpture next to our Red Panda habitat!
