Donating to the Zoological Society of Hertfordshire
As a charity we appreciate your generosity in donating items for us to sell and raise funds. Whether it’s an unwanted gift, or an ornament that no longer fits in, if it’s in good condition we can convert it into cash that will go to help a wildlife project somewhere in the world.
Many of the donated items will be sold at the Zoological Society of Hertfrodshire cabin in the park. We will also sometimes sell items on eBay to reach a wider audience.
So, if you have any items that you think would benefit the charity, please get in touch.
Selling on eBay
Zoological Society of Hertfordshire is registered with EBay as a charitable seller. Selling items this way maximises our income as donated gifts find their own values and eBay refund their fees, under their "eBay for Charities Scheme".
In addition you can help us when you sell on eBay by donating a percentage of your sale value. This is described below. Auctions for charities all carry the charity ribbon symbol and include a brief paragraph about the charity. So you’ll always know you are benefiting Friends of Paradise Wildlife Park.
Do You Sell On eBay?
You Could Help Our Conservation Work Each Time You Sell Something
…and earn fee credits on your listing
Every time you sell an item for charity, you’ll get a fee credit on your basic insertion and final value fees equal to the percentage you donate. So if you donate 50% of your selling price to a charity, eBay will waive 50% of your fees.
Once you’re ready to sell your item, go to the Sell hub and select ‘Advanced Sell’.
As you’re filling out the details, look out for the charity box just below where you set your price.
Select a charity to support and the percentage (10%-100%) of your final selling price that you'd like to donate. If Zoological Society of Hertfordshire isn’t yet listed for you, click on “choose another charity” and search using the keyword “Paradise”. (Next time, we’ll already be on your options screen.)
Note: The minimum donation per listing is £1.
Three weeks after your item sells, MissionFish (eBay's charity partner) will automatically collect the donation from you.
Any fee credits will appear on your next invoice.
Don't forget Gift Aid
Gift Aid is one of the easiest ways to make your donation tax effective. Using Gift Aid means that for every pound you give, the charity will receive an extra 25p from the government. Simply tick the Gift Aid box when you first list an item for charity, provided you are a UK tax payer, and MissionFish will collect the Gift Aid from the government and pass it on to your chosen charity.
Please help us do even more to help animal conservation projects in the UK and around the world.
