On Tuesday 25th July, our vets, Mark Haumann & John Lewis visited to carry out their general health checks on the animals here at Paradise but also to perform an operation on Kya, our 11 year old female, African White Lion.
The operation that took place was set in a controlled environment and was completely safe for both Kya and our team.
The surgical procedure was to prevent the need for temporary contraception that needs to be renewed annually, therefore Kya will not need to be anaesthised every year.
