Hertfordshire Zoo Update

Thu 8th September

How we are becoming Hertfordshire Zoo

As we continue to move towards our rebranding to Hertfordshire Zoo in 2024, we are continuing to share updates and changes we are making. Hertfordshire Zoo will be a truly inspiring experience sharing the wonder of wildlife with all ages. With Animal Conservation, Education, Sustainability and Community at the heart of everything we do. We uphold core values and we wish to strengthen these as we move forward to Hertfordshire Zoo.

Conservation

.
.
.
Here at the Zoo, we have been working with our conservation partners helping to aid in spreading awareness of animal conservation. Through our Animal Weekends, we have also been able to raise an incredible amount of fundraising, that will directly support the workers in the fields as well as the species and natural habitats that are in need of protection. Our efforts to support animal conservation has raised global awareness  with the help of ‘Little Red’, our ‘miracle’ Red Panda cub who has captured the hearts of millions across the globe. This has not only helped raise awareness about the species but this has also raised awareness about their conservation statue and habitat destruction. We continue to build further relationships to help and support wider conservation efforts and as we move towards our rebrand we wish to continue to expand our partners and support.

Education

.
In Summer 2022, we saw the launch of the second series of our children’s tv show One Zoo Three on CBBC and BBC iPlayer. Following brother Aaron, Tyler and Cam around to learn all about what it is like to run a zoo and a sanctuary as they introduce us all to their sister charity The Big Cat Sanctuary. One Zoo Three brings into your home the hard work and passion that goes into the running of a zoo in a fun and educational way. Tyler Whitnall, one of the brothers states that: My brothers and I hope to inspire more children to become conservationists and get involved with protecting and learning more about nature and wildlife. With over 800 rare and exotic animals, there is never a dull moment to learn something new and interesting including Whose Poo? And Cam’s Cam where the brothers will learn themselves and teach audiences more about the animals through various behaviours and antics. Keep an eye out on your screens as Aaron, Tyler and Cam will be returning very soon with an extra special seasonal episode!

Community

.
.
.
On the 24th of August 2022, we welcomed the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Sally Burton. On her visit, the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire awarded two awards. One award was given to The Staff and Volunteers of Paradise Wildlife Park and the other for One Zoo Three. Both in recognition of great and valuable services to the community and for conservation we do here at the Zoo. This is a great honour for us from our community and we look forward to what the near future holds.

Sustainability

.
.
.
Here at the Zoo, we have continue to move in leaps and bounds to strengthen our sustainable impact. We have eliminated single use water bottles across site and working with our external partnersto uphold the reuse and recycle statement as we look at improving and updating new and existing areas of the park.
